Google Goggles – An Improvement On Real Estate Search?

by admin on December 10, 2009

Stephen M. FellsGoogle continues to pump out innovate technology that has the potential to help the real estate industry, the latest is Google Goggles, a visual search product.

Currently only available for the Android phone Google Goggles allows you to take a photo and search on it. This provides for a great real estate technology recipe; start with a pinch of Google Place Pages, add a spoon of Google Maps, throw in some Google Sketchup to taste and finally stir everything up with some good old fashioned Google search. That’s a lot to digest.

How will this specifically help real estate? Imagine driving by a home for sale, taking a photo on your mobile phone and then being able to search for lots and lots of data in real time. Google could return the agents Website, the homes single property Website and almost unlimited local information. Of course I’m jumping ahead here (this isn’t currently possible) especially considering that Goggle(s) has limited functionality and is Android specific but never think Google can’t do something. Their Android phone is catching up to the iPhone and more than one person has suggested this may be part of the reason for the recent decline in Apple’s stock price.
